Principal Notes for 10/6/14

Fall activities are beginning to come to a close. The JV conference volleyball tournament will be played Saturday at Meadows Valley High School. Please call the high school office for times. The last home volleyball match will be Tuesday, October 14 against Council. The last regular season volleyball match will be Thursday, October 16 when we travel to Cascade. The district tournament is scheduled to begin Saturday, October 18. Again, please call the high school office for information on game times.

Our marching band will also be competing this weekend. The group will be playing at the Ontario Marching Festival on Saturday. The next competition for the group is November 1 when they will compete in the District III Marching Festival.

The junior high fall sport season will also draw to a close this weekend. We will host Cascade on Thursday beginning at 5:00 for both the football and volleyball games. On Friday, October 10, we will be hosting a junior high football and volleyball tournament beginning at 1:00.

Mrs. Jones and Ms. Rolon took our seventh and eighth graders to Council last week for a forestry stewardship workshop. Students had a great time learning about our local environment. A huge thank you goes out to the US Forest Service for providing this opportunity for our students.

As a reminder, the first nine weeks ends Thursday, October 16. Teachers will be available to assist students on Friday, October 10 from 8:00 until noon and also before and after school by appointment. If your child is missing work, we would love to see him or her this Friday.

Principal Notes for 10/13/14

Congratulations to the varsity volleyball team for winning the number one seed going into the district tournament! The Titans are scheduled to play at 2:30 Saturday afternoon at McCall-Donnelly High School.

If you have a child that is in the fifth or sixth grade, he or she is eligible for a free ski pass to any ski area in Idaho or eastern Oregon. To sign up for the free pass, please go to skiidaho.us.

The first nine weeks will end on Thursday of this week. You should be receiving a call from a teacher within the next week or so to schedule a parent-teacher conference. Conferences are scheduled for next week.

In visiting classrooms, we have some good learning happening. For example, in seventh and eighth grade English, students are learning about homonyms – which word should I use when I do well on an examination, passed or past? Physical science students are learning about the relationship between pressure and volume and temperature and volume.

Principal Notes for 10/27/14

Once again, congratulations go out to the varsity volleyball team for winning a berth to the state volleyball tournament to be held at Declo High School this weekend.  The Titans are scheduled to play Dietrich at 10:00 Friday morning to open the tournament.  A complete bracket can be found at http://www.idahosports.com/tournaments/brackets/1415/volleyball/1AD2vllybll.gif We wish the girls the best of luck!

The last home football game will be this Friday when the Titans host the Council Lumberjacks.  The game is scheduled to begin at 5:00.

Our marching band will be competing in the District III Marching contest on Saturday at Boise State University.  We wish all the best of luck to this group.

A huge thank you goes out to all who helped or participated in this year’s Rush Creek Stampede!  The weather turned out great for a foot race!

On Wednesday of next week, we will have the majority of our juniors and seniors going to Treasure Valley Community College to learn about the programs they offer through their professional technical school.
