Cambridge School District Salutes it’s Staff and Students: Cambridge School District wants parents
and patrons to know that an overwhelming number of the students attending Cambridge schools are good
citizens and good students. The teachers and staff at Cambridge schools have continued to assist students
in their educational journey through very tough financial times.
For the past several years, the district has put forth a concerted effort to improve reading scores. During
the 2010-11 school year, one hundred percent of students in grades 3-6 reached a level of proficient on the
Idaho Standards Achievement Test (ISAT) in reading. During the same year, 95% of the students in grades
9-12 reached a level of proficient. One hundred percent of this year's seniors have reached a level of
proficient in all subject areas.
One hundred percent of this year's seniors are currently on track to graduate in May. For five of the past
six years, Cambridge High School has a one hundred percent completion rate for its senior class. During
the past six years, all but one student have graduated.
Schools have been criticized because the Federally Funded Title I program, designed to get student
struggling in math or reading, does not successfully exit students at grade level. This year, Cambridge
Elementary School exited five students from its Title I program because they are now reading at, or above,
grade level.
During the first semester of this school year, there were a total of 333 credits attempted. Of those, only
ten were not earned, which means 97% of the credits attempted by our students were earned. During the
2010-11 school year, over 95% of all credits attempted by our high school students were earned.
The district is very proud to report the progress its students are making and at the same time is concerned
as to whether the progress can continue with lack of funding provided by the state. If you are interested in
supporting the young people of our community, the district suggests that you support the Upper Country
Education Foundation, Inc.. Please contact Becca Crosby at 550-4259.
